Apartheid The government policy that caused racial discrimination in South Africa.
Afrikaans The language spoken by the dutch Boers.
Boers The Dutch-descent people. They were the ones who enforced apartheid.
Nelson Mandela The anti-apartheid activist and president of both the ANC and South Africa.
F. W. de Klerk The last president of South Africa during the apartheid era. He freed Nelson Mandela from prison.
Discrimination The practice of unfairly treating a person or group of people differently from other people or groups of people.
Segregation The separation or isolation of a race, class, or ethnic group by enforced or voluntary residence in a restricted area, by barriers to social intercourse, by separate educational facilities, or by other discriminatory means.
