| expulsion | forcing someone to leave a place, especially a country |
| Zionism | (historically) the movement to develop and establish a Jewish homeland (currently) the development and protection of a Jewish nation in what is now Israel |
| United Nations Resolution 181 | resolution passed in 1947 that called for the partition of Palestine into Arab and Jewish states, with the city of Jerusalem to be governed internationally. |
| guerrilla warfare | form of irregular warfare in which a small group use military tactics including ambushes, sabotage, raids, hit-and-run tactics, and mobility to fight a larger and less-mobile traditional military |
| refugee | a person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster |
