Since 3/4 of Greece was divided by mountains...could there be one single government? No, they had small independent communities. The mountains also made it difficult to transport from land to land

Why was it Mycenaean easy to defend? located on a hill
Describe the Mycenaean city-state They had a palace that was kind of like a fort because it was a lot higher then the city walls its self. There was only one entrance, and the door area was indented so that to get to the door you could only have small army attacking at it.
Give more about the entrance and the Mycenaean city When enemies were attacking you, defenders could attack from a platform above the wall. Wall=stone! The door weighed 60 tons...how did they get it up there!
What is one aspect that shows that the Mycenaeans were fairly rich There was a circular area that is a cemetery. Rich people could afford to be buried there.
Describe the Mycenaean door way/wall A lion on the top of it. The wall was made of stone and it was built on natural stone
What is the BEEHIVE GRAVE? Large tomb inside the city. Looked like a beehive. Above ground. Tomb for King Aterius, father of Agamemnon. Stones interlock=more strength. Stones=bigger to smaller. The inter-chamber, body buried with wealth. > shows that the city had resources &wealth
The doom of the Beehive No support(pillars etc.) to hold the rocks in place..how did this work? They put stems into the rocks to help support them. But still.

Building the Beehive needed skilled people to cut the stones and such but why did it need unskilled people carry buckets of dirt to the construction site :p

When did the Mycenaeans collapse 1200 B.C., Dorians move in. The economy collapsed and trade stopped since the Dorians were so unsophisticated. During this time the Greeks no longer wrote. 1150-750 B.c. no WRITE knowledge of what happened. Passed by oral tradition.

King rule- Monarchy
tyrants people who try to get support to gain power by going through the common people Like lowering taxes, may give jobs etc. They concessions he makes he has to do a favor for both sides of the status group, he can't favor one side over another.
Oligrarchy ruled by a few powerful people
Aristocracy ruled by a group of nobles land owning families- come to power by accomplishing something.
