Superior structure closer to the head
Inferior structure closer to feet
Cranial structure closer to the head (when referring to a structure on the trunk of the body)
Caudal structure closer to the sacrum (when referring to a structure on the trunk of the body)
Posterior structure towards the back of the body
Anterior structure towards the front of the body
Medial structure closer to the midline (center) of the body
Lateral structure further from the midline of the body
Distal structure further from the trunk or midline
Proximal structure closer to the trunk or midline
Superficial structure closer to body's surface
Deep structure deeper in the body
