| reserviors | human, insects, food, and water for the microorganisms and allow them to multiply |
| fomites | non living materials that house microorganisms |
| portal of exit | escape routes in humans that allow microorganisms to leave |
| mode of transmission | the way a disease is passed along |
| portal of entry | pathogens to get into the host or environment. |
| host | something capable or has been infected |
| immunity | a state of not being susceptible to pathogens |
| surgical asepsis | sterilization of ant item that penetrates the skin or comes into ant contact with a normally sterile part of the body |
| infectious agent | a pathogen that can get us sick |
| medical asepsis | redousing the amount of pathogens |
| healthcare associates infection (HSI) | when a health care facility , a patient can get infections unrealated to their illness |
