What is sprezzatura? Sprezzatura means the ability to make things look easy, like you don’t have to try.
How did Leonardo start his career? He started his career by being an apprentice to Andrea del Verrocchio who was a painter and sculptor
Name one of the devices Leonardo made, what did he make it for, and did he even like what he made it for? Leonardo worked on designing dangerous devices including a tank even though he didn't like war.
What did Leonardo depict in the Last Supper? How long did it take him to make it and why? In the the Last Supper Leonardo depicts the reaction of the 12 apostles when Jesus says “One of you will betray me.” It took him two years because he couldn't find the right face for Judas.
What method did Leonardo use on certain parts of the Last Supper and where were those certain parts? He used perspective in the Last Supper on the walls and lines on the ceiling.
What subject did Leonardo love and what ideas did he develop for them? Leonardo loved science and developed ideas for parachutes and helicopters.
What is Leonardo’s most famous painting? What technique did he use and where did he use it on the painting? His most famous painting is called The Mona Lisa. Sfumato is the technique he used to paint the background.
With whom did Michelangelo begin his artistic career, and what did he learn while in his household? Michelangelo began his artistic career with Lorenzo de Medici. He learned art, literature, and he studied the old master in sculpture and painting.
Why did Michelangelo leave Florence and where did he eventually settle? Michelangelo left Rome because Lorenzo’s son, Piero, started ruling since Lorenzo died and was bringing hard times to Florence. Michelangelo eventually settled in Rome.
What were some of the problems that sprang up between Michelangelo and Julius II? Some of the problems that sprang up between both of them were that when Michelangelo was working on his tomb, something happened and refused to pay or talk to Michelangelo. Then the pope commanded for Michelangelo to go back to Rome or he would go get him
What were some of the problems that sprang up between Michelangelo and Julius II? with his armies. When Michelangelo was working on the Sistine Chapel the pope hit Michelangelo with a cane for asking to see his family and he threatened to throw him off the scaffold.
