oligarchy a government in which a small group of wealthy people hold power
tyranny a government in which power is taken and the tyrant rules with total authority.
citizenship membership in a community
democracy a government in which the people have the power to rule
direct democracy a government in which citizens participate directly in decision making and the day-today work of governing.
representative democracy a government in which citizens elect leaders to represent their rights and interests in government
monarchy a government in which a king or queen rules and then that power is inherited by family members
autocracy a form of government in which one person has total power
anarchy nobody is in control - no system of government is in control
