| Term | Definition |

| Demographic | Explains how and why population grows at different rates around the world. |
| Industrial | Of, relating to, or characterized by industry. |
| Industrial Revolution | A combination of major improvements in industrial technology that transforms the process of manufacturing goods and delivering them to markets |
| Crude Birth Rate | The number of live births occurring among the population of a given geographical area during a given year |
| Cude Death Rate | The number of deaths occurring among the population of a given a geographic area during a given year |
| Natural Increase Rate | The percentage growth of a population in a year measured as the crude birth rate minus the crude death rate. |
| Total Fertility Rate | The average number of children a woman would have throughout her childbearing years. |
| Infant Mortality Rate | The total number of infant deaths per year for every 1,000 live births. |
| Zero Population Growth | A decline of the total fertility rate to the point where the natural increase rate equals 0. |
| Primary Economic Activity | Activities where natural resources are extracted from the earth including production of raw materials and basic foods. |
| Infrastrucutre | The basic physical and organizational structures and facilities needed for the operation of a society or enterprise |
