The Late 17th century and the eighteenth century contained two movements, what were they? "The Age of Reason" and the Neoclassical.
Enlightenment thinkers include... Musicians, Writers, Artists, and thinkers
Define Philosophes. The embodiment of the Enlightenment, believed human kind could achieve a perfect society of peace, order, and harmony. Championed democracy, denounced religious intolerance, and supported public education.
Define Rational Humanism. The belief that progress which benefits humanity is inevitable when given freedom to learn and think. Any opposition to freedom must be overthrown.
Name three of the reasons the American Revolution occurred. British increase on taxes, including tea and molasses (Boston Tea Party). Britain imposed laws required cargo to travel in British vessels. The British also required that colonists house British soldiers.
