Word building

Compound Word Two words combined to make a meaningful compound term
Root Base or foundation of the word, regardless of what other word, unit or syllable attached to it
Combining Form Root and vowel (base + vowel)
Compound terms are made up of 2 or more words, a whole word and word root and word root combining form and a word
Endings... Change the basic meaning of a root/foundation word
Suffix Word unit or syllable added to the end of a word/root that changes its meaning and creates a new word
Prefix Unit joined to beginning of a word or root that creates a new term
Meaningful units in front of a root are... Prefixes
Meaningful units placed after a root are... Suffixes
