| Acute Illness | A sudden Illness from which the person is expected to recover is an acute illness |
| Assisted living residence | An assisted living resident provides housing, personal support services, health care, and social activities in a homelike setting. |
| Case Management | Is a nursing care pattern in which a case manager (an RN_) coordinates a person's care from admission through discharge and into the home setting. |
| Chronic Illness | When an illness or injury is ongoing, is slow or gradual in onset, and has no known cure, it is a chronic illness. |
| Functional nursing | When a nursing care pattern focuses on tasks and jobs, and each nursing team member has certain tasks and jobs to do, it is called functional. |
| Health Team | The many health care workers whose skills and knowledge focus on the person's total care are called the health team. |
| Hospice | Is a health care agency or program for persons who are dying. |
| Licensed practical nursing (LPN) | A person who has completed a 1 year nursing program and has passed a licensing test is a LPN. |
