What type of civilization is China? River Valley civilization
Why was China so isolated? Due to the natural barriers
What helped make China isolated? Himalayan Mountains, Gobi Desert, Pacific Ocean
What are the two main rivers in China? The Huang He river and the Yellow river
Why was the Huang He river called "China's Sorrow"? Because the floods often washed away whole villages and many people died
Why early Chinese civilization developed along the Huang He river? The river provided water for drinking and watering crops, fertile soil to grow food, and food (fish).
What is a Dynasty? line of rulers (kings) who belong to the same family
What were the first two dynasties in China? First was the Shang dynasty, second was the Zhou dynasty
What were the oracle bones made of? animal bones and shells
What were the oracle bones used for? To predict the future
What metal did the Chinese use to make beautiful bowls, weapons, Bronze
What is the Mandate of Heaven? The heaven (gods)give rules the right to rule ancient China
Who becomes the Son of Heaven Whoever is the ruler at the time
