What was the Truman Plan? A pledge to provide economic and military aid to oppose the spread of communism. As part of the plan Congress agreed to send hundreds of millions of dollars in aid to Turkey and Greece.
What was the Marshall Plan? Provided $13 billion for rebuilding Europe and promoted rapid recovery and political stability.
How was Germany divided up after WWII? Between the Allied Victors. East Germany was part of the Soviet Union and was communist. West Germany was divided among France, Great Britain, and the U.S. and was a democracy. East & West Berlin were also divided as such.
After World War II there was a rise in birthrates known as the______. baby boom
Why did the Soviets block off all land, rail, and water routes into West Berlin? Because they wanted the West to leave Berlin.
What was the Berlin Airlift? A massive effort to supply West Berlin by air with supplies that were needed.

What is the Potsdam Conference? Divided Germany into four zones of occupation
What was the Warsaw Pact? Military alliance formed in response to the formation of NATO

How did Winston Churchill use an image to describe the division of Europe? He described it as an iron curtain.
Why did the Soviet Union want to control Eastern Europe after World War II? They wanted a buffer zone of friendly governments to protect against attack.

What is Al Qaeda? A terrorist organization that was once led by Osama Bin Laden.
What two countries has the US military been involved in due to the terrorist attacks on 9/11/2001? Iraq and Afghanistan
