Who was Hannibal and why was he important? He was a Carthaginian military leader. He fought against Rome.

Who did Augustus proclaim to be the son of God? Himself.
Were the Romans polytheist or monotheistic? Polytheistic.
Who was emperor Nero. What did he do and who did he blame it on? A young emperor. He burned a city and blamed Christians.
Who was emperor Constantine? A Christian emperor.
What was the Edict of Milan? It declared the Roman Empire would be neutral regarding religion.
Instead of love and trust, the Romans worshiped out of ________. Fear.
Who restored order and reformed the Roman Empire? What steps did he take? Diocletian. He spilt the empire in half.
What was the final collapse of the western Roman Empire? German forces took over.
What is the Pax Romana? The end of the reign of Marcus Aurelius when peace and prosperity was abundant.

Who attacked Germanic peoples and then Rome? The Huns.

How do we see Roman architecture today? Aqueducts, domes, arches, and some famous capitols.
Who built the Colosseum? Emperor Vespasian started it and his two sons finished it.
What was the roman law like? It was very fair.
What was the point of the collosseum? Entertainment.
What helped Rome strengthen western culture tradition? Greek civilization.
What was the official language of the Roman Catholic Church? Latin
What were mercenaries? Paid soldiers the government hired.
What did Augustine teach in Africa? Humans needed the grace of God to be saved.
Who was the first pope? Peter.
The earliest Romans worshiped powerful spirits or divine forces called _______. Numina.
How much of the Roman population were slaves? One third.
