ancient greek golden age

A City of Contrasts Homes in Ancient Greece often were uncomfortable and simple; made of mud bricks. The rich had larger houses built around a court yard but even if you were rich you often had an uncomfortable one,what they really took pride in was their public buildings.
Religion the Temple of Delphi The Greeks worshipped many gods especially the Olympian gods and some had temples on the acropolis in Delphi.The god Apollo had a temple and people from around would come to ask for his advice and the oricle of Delphi would answer it through Apollo.
Architecture the Acropolis The Greeks had beautiful architecture,especially on their temples,they all have columns and a freize(a collection of statues on the top)usually all temples had the same kind of structure,and they had a main room with a statue of the god the temple honors.
Sculpture a Marble Workshop Greek sculptors used lots of colors on their sculp.s and they used wood,stone and clay to make them their sculp.s were a lot like the ancient egiptians because they were larger than life. Phiddias created the Athena sculp., and sculp.s on the temple.
Drama a Theater of Dionysus The greeks often wrote plays to honor the god of wisdom and wine: Dionysus,but as they developed,they became stories.only men were actors,and they wore masks.plays were in open air theaters built by the side of a mountain,and the stage was a half circle.
philosophy the agora The greatest philosopher in Athens was a man named Socrates.socrates encouraged others to question things and was very wise.he was sentenced to death after being found guilty in a trial but he had a great student plado and he had a student Aristotle.
sports the panetenic games they had the panethenic games at panathenia tohonor the goddess athenea they had a lot of different events with combat sports.they did the Olympics too, games were so important that they called a truce from all wrs so that the men could get there safely.
