Golden Age A time of peace and wealth in Athens after the Persians
Pericles A great leader that helped rebuild Athens when it was in ruins
Acropolis The hill in Athens in which beautiful temples were built to honor the Greek gods, and it is also used as a sanctuary.
Parthenon The temple honoring the Goddess of Athena built on the Acropolis above Athens with a 30 ft statue of Athena built by Phiddias
Myth A traditional story to explain a culture's beliefs that has been passed down from generations
architecture the art of designing buildings-in Greece they built magnificent ones with beautiful columns
Sculpture The art of creating three dimensional figures out of materials such as clay, wood, or stone, like statues or pottery, the Greeks were also famous for this.
Socrates A great Athinian Philosipher that encouraged people to question things and forced them to think about their beliefs.
Plato Socrates' student, and plato also taught Aristotle Philosophy
Panethenic Games Games kind of like the Olympics, except they included combat games
Olympics Games that were very important to greeks that men competed in, the greeks stopped all of the wars during the Olympics so that the men could get there safely
