otoscope an instrument used to examine external ear canal and tympanic membrane
presbyopia a decrease in the elasticity of the lens that occurs with aging, resulting in a decreased ability to focus on close objective
refraction the deflection or bending of light rays by a lens
tympanic membrane a thin, semitransparent membrane between the external ear canal and the middle ear that receives and transmits sound waves. also known as eardrum
