| No man's land. | The land between two opposing armies that no man can cross without being shot at or bombed. |
| Zepplins | Large gas filled balloons that are used to bomb enemy troops. |
| U-boats | The German word for submarines. |
| Convoys | Are groups of merchant ships protected by warships. |
| Total War | The channeling of a nation's entire resources into the war effort. |
