What did the British do when the Vietnamese claimed independence on the 2nd September 1945? Agreed that the French should return, and supported the French in arriving back and launching an effort to crush the Viet Minh
What happened on the 6 March 1946? Ho bargained with the French after fearing the presence of the Chinese in the North
What had happened by 1947? The Viet Minh and the French were at war
What happened in 1950? China recognized Vietnam as an independent communist state
