ש"ס Shas Acronym for ששה סדרים (An acronym is an abbreviation formed from the initial components in a phrase or a word.)
ששה סדרים Shisha S'darim Six Orders
ששה סדרי משנה Six order of Mishna The Mishnah consists of six orders (sedarim, singular seder סדר), each containing 7–12 tractates (masechtot, singular masechet מסכת; lit. "web"), 63 in total, and further subdivided into chapters פרקים containing משניות paragraphs.
מקרא Mikrah "That which is read" refers to the Written Torah
גמרא G'mara The rabbinical analysis of and commentary on the Mishnah. "Study" or "learning by tradition" (It a Aramaic word (not hebrew))
