| fire extinguisher | a device that can put out fires |
| body mechanics | the way in which the body moves and maintains balance; proper body mechanics involves the most efficient use of all body parts |
| safety standard | set of rules designed to protect both the patient and the health care worker |
| Material Safety Data Sheet | information sheets that must be provided by the manufacturer for all hazardous products |
| ergonomics | an applied science used to promote the safety and well-being of a person by adapting the environment and using techniques to prevent injuries |
| base of support | standing 8-10 inches apart to provide better balance |
