| veneration | a special regard for cattle |
| acculturation | the blending of two or more cultures |
| Vedas | "a collection of hymns, chants, ritual instructions, and other religious teachings" |
| rajahs | the name of an Aryan tribe chief |
| Indra | "the chief Aryan deity, the god of war" |
| brahman | a single spiritual power that existed beyond the many gods of the Vedas and that resided in all things |
| Mystics | people who seek direct communion with divine forces |
