Moderate to severe Migraine Headache pain | Triptans used first. Examples: Eletriptan (Replax) , Almotriptan (Axert), Frovatriptan (Frova), Naratriptan (Amerge), Rizatriptan (Maxalt), Sumatriptan (Imitrex), Zolmitriptan (Zomig). |
Migraine Prevention Medications | a) Anti-Seizure Meds. b) Beta-Adrenergic Blockers. c) Tricyclic Anti-depressants. d) SSRI( Selective Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitor. e) Calcium Channel Blocker. f) Thiaszides. |
Cluster Headache Pharmacological treatment | (a) Narcotic Analgesics (due to severity) (b) No analgesia needed in between attacks |
Tension Headaches Pharmacological treatment | (a) Non-narcotic analgesics. (b) Narcotics avoided due to danger of substance abuse |
