| Guerilla Warfare | Hit-and-run attacks by small bands of fighters against a larger power |

| Pan-Africanism | Nationalist movement that began in the early 1900s and called for unifying all of Africa |
| African National Congress | An opposition group in South Africa who wanted to end Apartheid (Present-day party in charge) |
| Scramble for Africa | Europeans competed with each other to take over African colonies (1800-1914) |
| Mutlinational Corporation | Huge business enterprises with branches in many countries |
| Ethnicity | Attachment to one's own ethnic group |
| Economic sanctions | Cutting off trade with another country to pressure it to change its policies |
| Apartheid | Rigid separation of races by law in South Africa |
