What is an epistle? Letter formal or didactic
Where was the author before he wrote the letter? It was before his first roman imprisonment. He was probably at Antioch
Why did he write the letter? To address the tension between the law and the gospel
What are some key verses in the letter, and why? Galatians 5:1, Galatians 5:22-23
What is the main storyline of the letter? Main storyline was that we should follow Gods law when man tells us wrong and works don't get us into heaven.
Who are the main characters associated with the letter? Paul, galatians and Peter.
What is the main themes of the letter? 1.) law does not save us 2.) faith in Jesus saves us 3.) freedom comes from the gospel
What is the historical setting of the letter? Paul founded the church if Galatia on his first missionary journey. The Jews where trying to force mosaic law and discredit Paul as an apostle. Paul wrote to them in response.
From what view point does the author write the letter? Paul wrote the letter as a teacher or mentor, as means of correcting wrong viewpoint.
