Major events from 1500 AD until 1776

Printing Press 1500 AD Created by Johann Gutenberg. Enabled books to be made in large amounts. Prior to printing press all books were written by hand.
Cortez & Pizarro 1500 AD era - follows Printing press Cortez was a Spanish conquistador and conquered Mexico. Pizarro was a Spanish conquistador and conquered the Inca empire.
Leonardo Di Vinci 1500 AD era - follows Cortez Was an inventor, mathematician, artist and architect. He painted Mona Lisa and the Last Supper.
King Henry VIII 1500 AD era - follows di Vinci Was the king of England that broke from the Catholic church and formed the Church of England. He had 6 wives and was the father of Queen Elizabeth I.
Reformation 1500 AD era - follow King Henry VIII People were unhappy with the Catholic Church because the leaders only cared about power and wealth. People started protesting and broke away. These people were call Protestants.
Renaissance & the Enlightenment 1500 AD era - follows Reformation Time when people became interested in challenging the teaching of the Church and questioned the power of their rulers. The learning of Ancient Greece and Rome were studied and used to advance art, architecture, science and literature.
Queen Elizabeth I 1500 AD era - follows Renaissance First female to rule England and was from the house of Tudor. Ruled England for 45 years and made it rich and powerful.
Galileo 1500 AD era - follows Queen Elizabeth I Scientist that discovered that the earth circles the sun. Determined that the earth was not the center of the universe. Studied mountains on the moon by using the telescope.
Martin Luther German monk who listed 95 ways to reform the Catholic church. Founded the Lutheran religion. Believed church services should be simple and people should read the Bible.
Inquisition A system of courts used to persecute people who voiced opposition to the Catholic church. Would find Protestants and punish them.
Industrial Revolution New machines were invented that could spin and weave cloth quickly. Invention of machines enabled factories to be built and mass production to start.
Louis XIV: The Sun King King of France that built Versaillis, a grand palace. Became king at age 5 and became the most powerful ruler in Europe in the 17th century.
Declaration of Independence Document written by colonists in America declaring their independence from England. All 13 colonies signed document and started the war that formed the USA.
