To many people why did the italian unification make sense? They spoke the same language, had the same culture and was in the same region which was the Italian Peninsula. Also, the unification would bring all of Italy together and not have parts of Italy divided and controlled by different territories
Why did the Austrian Prince Metternich back in 1815 dismissively call Italy just a "geographical expression" Metternich wanted Italy's territories, and wanted to hang to German provinces in Italy. Also, Italy had not been unified till the Roman Times (1,500) years ago
What does the word Risorgimento mean The translation is Resurgence and the meaning is Italian nationalist movement that unified Italy
What does the phrase blut und eisen refer to translated means blood and iron and was Bismarck's quote when he was fighting against Prussia and Austria. It was a speech about the unification of Germany
