| Term | Definition |

| Economy | the management of the resources of a community, country, etc. |
| Economic Geography | the branch of geography concerned with the production and distribution of commodities |
| Gross domestic product | The monetary value of all the finished goods and services produced within a country's borders in a specific time period, though GDP is usually calculated on an annual basis. |
| Gross national product | An economic statistic that includes GDP, plus any income earned by residents from overseas investments, minus income earned within the domestic economy by overseas residents. |
| literacy rates | The number of people that are literate (able to read and write) in an area. It is usually displayed as a percentage. |
| health care | social insurance for the ill and injured. |
| Life expectancy | The average period that a person may expect to live. |
| birth rate | The number of live births per thousand of population per year |
| industrialization | the development of industry on an extensive scale. |
