Arab a member of a group of people inhabiting Arabia and other countries of the Middle East, excluding Israel (Israel does not consider itself to be an Arab country)

Sunni a member of one of the two great religious divisions of Islam, regarding the first four caliphs as legitimate successors of Muhammad. They disagree with Shia's over political leadership.
Shia a member of one of the two great religious divisions of Islam that regards Ali, the son-in-law of Muhammad, as the legitimate successor of Muhammad, and disregards the three caliphs (spiritual leaders) who succeeded him
Nation a group of people of the same ethnic family, often speaking the same language
State a politically unified people occupying a definite territory
Israeli a native or someone who lives in modern Israel
Palestinian 1. a native or inhabitant of Palestine. 2. Also called Palestinian Arab. an Arab formerly living in Palestine who advocates the establishment of an Arab homeland there.
Jew 1. one of a scattered group of people that traces its descent from the Biblical Hebrews 2. a person whose religion is Judaism
