President Ronald Regan (1889-1991) Reinvigorated Cold War animosities by zeroing in on communism and the USSR.
USSR Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
Nonviolent revolutions in Western and Central Europe (1989-1990) Allowed Europe to regain independence, institute democratic forms of government, and adopt market based economies.
What led to the division of Czechoslovakia? Disagreements over the time frame for switching to a market economy, led to Czechoslovakia being broken into the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
What happened on November 9th 1989 for the Germans? It was the end of the German Democratic Republic, East German regime opens the Berlin Wall to Germany (also known as the "Fall of the Berlin Wall").
Gorbachev's Reforms led to... Decline of educational funding, increase in pollution, focus toward ailing countries, government imposed rationalizing to cope with the scarcity of consumer goods,etc.
The Soviet Union's economy "desintegrated" due to... The deline in industry and agriclulture on top of the rapidly increasing infaltion.

Who conspired against Gorbachev in August 1991? A conspiracy group against Gorbachev that consited of discontent party funcionaries, KGB officials, and military officers planed to seize power while Gorbachev was away.

BRICs New, fast-growing and developing economies that emerged during the financial crisis in 1997.
What countries made up the BRICs? Brazil, Russia, India, China, Mexico, and South Korea. (South Korea was still classified as a developing economy).
ASEAN Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
What impact did new communications media have on the world? It "tied" the world together and promoted a global cultural integration.
"The Age of Access" technological advances provided the means to dissolve boundaries between localities and peoples.
Global Problems Population pressure, labor servitude, global terrorism, the effects of mass tourism, and human rights are a few of the problems that arose.
Population pressure In 2005 alone the world's population was at 6.5 billion people, with 75 million people joining the population every year, by 2050 the population is estimated to be around 9 billion
Labor servitude Over 250 million childern through the ages of 5-14 work in harmful conditions as child-laborers. This is most pronounced in south and southeast Asia and India.
Global terrorism (September 11, 2001) Also known as 9/11 brought the war in Afghanistan and Iraq due to the terroristic attacks focused on the U.S. October 2001 marks the beginning of U.S military operaations against the Taliban army.
Human rights (Women) Coming with womens rights traveling across the world comes women leaders, such as Benazar Bhuto (1953-2007) who led India and Pakistan as effective politicians. Suu Kyi who called for nonviolent revolutions against "facist government".
Mass effects of tourism Tourism has become the largest industry on the planet, in 2010 alone around $5.7 trillion was spent on tourism. It provides work for around 255 million people and creates low paying jobs.
