What was the Industrial Revolution? an increase in machine-made goods beginning in England during the 1700s
Which of the following was a result of the agricultural revolution? Small farmers moved to the cities, wealthy landowners made money from the enclosure movement, and people tried new agricultural methods.
What were the three factors of production required for industrialization? Land, labor, and capital.
What was the main cause of the process of urbanization that occurred in 19th-century Britain and elsewhere in western Europe? Industrialization, or the use of machines.
How did landowners and aristocrats view wealthy members of the middle class? They were looked down upon since they were not born into money.
What does laissez-faire mean? a policy that let owners of industry set working conditions without government interference; "let it be"
What is the name for the voluntary associations of workers seeking labor reforms? unions
What is a social change that occured during the Industrial Revolution? The Middle Class received political, social, and professional respect. They were able to buy houses and luxury items. The lower classes remained poor. Many times they lived in cramped tenements and faced terrible working conditions.
Identify captialism. You should know the person who is identified with that belief. Adam Smith developed the idea of capitalism. This is where individuals own the factors of production.
What is socialism? Charles Fourier supported socialism, which is when the public and government control the prices and production for the benefit of everyone.
What is communism? Communism has the government controlling the factors of production and economic planning. Karl Marx eveloped this theory.
