| Flat Muscles | Thin and broad; originating from broad, fibrous, sheetlike aponeuroses that allow them to spread their forces over a broad area. Example: Rectus Abdominis/External Oblique |
| Fusiform Muscles | Spindle-shaped with a central belly that tapers to tendons on each end. Example: Brachialis/Brachioradialis |
| Strap Muscles | Uniform in diameter; enables a focusing power on small, bony targets. Example: Sartorius |
| Radiate Muscles | Triangular, fan-shaped, or convergent; combined arrangement of flat and fusiform; they originate on a broad surface and converge onto a tendon. Example: Pectoralis Major/Trapezius |
| Sphincter/Circular Muscles | Technically endless strap muscles. Example: Orbicularis Oris |
