| Nationalism | loyalty and devotion to a country |
| Independence | freedom from the control of another country, ex. Indian's freedom from Britain |

| Mao Zedong | communist leader of China; created the Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution |

| Communism | type of goverment that is usually run by a dictator, and eliminates private ownership |
| Great Leap Forward | Mao Zedong's attempt to create all of China among communist lines of collective farms, communes, and private ownership eliminated |
| Cultural Revolution | eliminate class differences throughout China |
| Tiananmen Square | protest of Chinese citizens for more freedoms |
