| Define Rectus Sternalis mm | rectus= straight sternon= chest -only 8% of the pop has this mm |

| Define Intercostal mm | inter= between costa= rib -assits with breathing -internal and external mm |
| Intercostal function | Stiffen the chest wall to prevent paradoxical motion during descent of the diaphragm; move the ribs -pushes/pulls ribs together -supports ribs/thoracic cavity |
| Define Diaphragm | dia= across + phragoms=fence (dome shaped) main mm of respiration |
| Diaphragm function | increases volume in the thoracic cavity -on the inhale it flattens -on the exhale its a dome shape - helps to push air out of the lungs |
