| Balkanization | the process where a state breaks down through conflicts |
| Balkanized | a small geographic area that couldn't be successfully be organized into stable states |
| Blockbusting | Where real estate agents convince whites to move because of blacks |
| Centripetal Force | Where people are unified because of something |
| Ethnic cleansing | Where a more powerful ethnicity forces a smaller one to move |
| Ethincity | Identity with a group of people that share common doings |
| Multiethnic State | A state that contains more than one ethnicity |
| Multinational State | A state that contains two or more ethnic groups with traditions of self-determinism |
| Nationalism | Loyalty and devotion to an ethnicity |
| Nationality | Identity with a group of people that share legal attachment |
| Race | Identity with a group of people |
| Racism | belief that one race has superiority over another. Example Blacks vs. Whites |
| Racist | Discrimination against another race |
| Self-Determinism | the right that ethnicities have the right to govern themselves |
| Sharecropper | Someone who works on rented lands payer the owner with crops |
| Triangular Slave Trade | Slaves that went to the Caribbean Islands to Europe then to Africa |
