what is the purpose of CPR? to keep blood flowing to all major organs
what type of blood does the heart pump? rich oxygen blood
do you need to take all your weight off the person when giving compressions you need to take your weight off the person or the blood will not pump to the organs
what do you do when giving a rescue breath? pinch the nose and give one breath...then let go of the nose and come up...then take another rescue breath while pinching the nose...let go and start doin chest compressions
can you crack the persons ribs while giving CPR? yes it is likely to crack a rib while performing CPR
when do you stop CPR? you never stop CPR unless...you see obvious signs of life...you are to exausted to continue...an EMT is there to finish taking care of the person...or an AED is able to be used
how long do you perform CPR? until and EMT or medical person gets there or until obvious signs of life
how many compressions do you give a minute? you give 100 compressions a minute approx. 30 in 18 sec.
what can cause clogged arteries in the heart? not lifting your weight off the person
the pulmonary artery pumps what kind of blood? to where? it pumps rich oxygen blood...to the organs and limbs
what are the types of pain you do to see if there is a reaction? the sterdum rub or the finger pinch
what is the first thing you do when giving CPR? ALWAYS check your scene for safety
what is the second thing you do when giving CPR? you tap the person on the shoulder and ask if they are okay loud enough for them to hear you
what is the third thing you do when giving CPR? you give some type of pain to see if there is a resposnse
what is the fourth thing you do when giving CPR? you check for signs of life and tell someone to call 911
what is the fifth thing you do when giving CPR? you begin CPR with 30 chest compressions and 2 rescue breaths
what is the sixth thing you do when giving CPR? stop if you are too exausted to continue or an EMT is there to help or and AED is ready to use...other wise keep repeating unless one of those reasons happens
