QuestionAnswer
When was Rome founded? Founded in the eighth century B.C.E. as a city-state and ruled by a single king.
What big events took place in the sixth centurty B.C.E? The city's aristocrats deposed the king, ended the monarchy, and instituded a republic.
What is a Republic? A form of government in which delegates represented the interests of various constituencies.
Romulus and Remus' legend. Existence was owed to the flight of Aeneas, twin decendents almost died as infants because of abandonment. They were left to die (drown in the Tiber River)but were found a by a kindly she-wolf who nursed them to health. In 753 B.C.E. Romulus founded Rome.
