Unit 2 Historical Jargon

| Administer | manage, direct, or enforce something;give or dispense. An example is when someone enforces the rules or law. |
| Arable | land with soil able to produce and support the growth of crops. The land near rivers would be arable. |
| Architecture | a method of designing and building something into a usable and/or pleasing form; charachteristics that make it unique or represtentative of an era. |
| Authoritarian | something or someone with complete or almost complete control over one or more people; a person who expects people to do all he says. A government who prioritizes obeying the law over freedom is authoritarian. A dictator could also be an authoritarian. |
| Barbarian | someone who is savage or crude and lacks social manners, education and culture. A cannibal or Dave the Barbarian are barbaric. |
| Bureacracy | people that work for the government or people that make official decisions; lots of tasks and many strict steps and rules |
| Citizen | A person who is born in a place or is a natural resident; I am a citizen of the United States. |
| Cosmopolitan | something that is common in most parts of the world or a person who feels at home all over the world A cosmopolitan could be someone who travels all over the world compared to a person who stays at home. |
