odoacer german leader, over threw the roman emperor, the fall of rome
mercenaries foreign soldiers who served for pay, not loyal,
carthage a city state in northern africa, fought against rome in punic wars
nero considered an evil emperor, persecuted christians and set fire to half of rome
peter martyred in rome like jesus but upside down
roman slaves prisoners of war, worked on latifundia, had more severe punishments, held rome back from exploring new technologies because of romes reliance on their labor
