QuestionAnswer
What group were the Medes and the Persians part of? The Achaemenid Empire. Spoke Indo-European Languages and their movements were part of the migration.
Who are the Achaemenids? One of the 4 ruling dynasties (558-330 B.C.E.) that maintained a continuous tradition of imperial rule in much of Southwest Asia.
What kind of implications did the Persians have? Important social, economic, and cultural implications.
How did the Zoroastrianism leave a mark? Other religions of salvation were affected. Provided real opportunities for other cuktures and religions.
What is Manichaeism? One of the 3 religions of salvation. Found footing alongside Judaism and attracted converts.
What was the earliest Persian religion centered on? On cults that celebrated outstanding natural elements and geographic features of the sun, moon, water, and especially fire.
What happened when the governments needed large numbers of administrative officials? Increased distance and tensions between rich and poor. Slavery became more common. Started implications of social structure and classes in many societies.
How did the Sasanids Merchants tarde actively? Cultivation of crops such as rice, sugarcane, citrus fruits, eggplant, and cotton come west over the trade route from India to China.
What did the Seleucids do? Founded new cities that attracted Greek colonists. Kept the Archaemenid Systems of administration and taxation; imperial roads and postal service stayed also.
What is a qanat and what is it used for? An underground canal, which led to enhanced agricultural production and population growth.
