Kush Also known as Nubia. Major trading empire. Meroe is the capital city. natural resources: iron, ore, and lumber.
Ghana Rulers convert to Islam, Maintained order through a large army. Defeated by Almoravid's.
Songhai Gao = capital city. Sunni Ali = founder. Sunni Ali built mosques to link with Arab leaders.

Jurchens Ally with the Song dynasty in order to conquer Liao.
Decline of the Song Too much emphasis upon the military. Dominated by the Mongols.
