Historical Jargon

QuestionAnswer
Agrarian Cultivated land or cultivation of land. Neolithic people cultivated land.
Communal Shared by all memebers of a community. All use. Paliolithic people share food they gathered with family.
Filial From generation to generation. As generations go by, more technology comes to use and crops are being made instead of hunting and gathering.
Monarchy A form of government with a monarch as the head.
Pastoral grazing of sheep or cattle. Pastoralists were herders.
Subsistence maintaining or supporting oneself at minimum level. Hunter and gatherers always supported themselves.
Archeology The study of prehistoric people and their cultures. In class, we studied Paleolithic and Neolithic people and the ways they lived.
Edifice A complex system of beliefs. People believed that hunting and gathering was more of a male job then a female job.
Incarnation Father, son and holy spirit. (Jesus Christ). Different parts of the country are different religions.
Nomadic Migrate a lot. Hunter gatherers could have migrated because their food source was declining.
Patriarch Male head of the family or tribe. Men were the head of the family back in Egyptian times
Venerate Regard with great respect.
