| Agrarian | Of or relating to cultivated land or the cultivation of land. •The essentially agrarian economy of the district is symbolized by the sheaves of wheat. |
| Communal | Shared by all members of a community; for common use. Communal establishments were common. |
| Filial | Denoting the generation or generations after the parental generation. Filial reverence devoutly do we kiss your blessed feet. |
| Monarchy | A form of government with a monarch at the head. No empire ever ruled a " united monarchy " from jerusalem. |
| Pastoral | Used for or related to the keeping or grazing of sheep or cattle. •Indications are that farming practice was essentially pastoral except during climatic optima. |
| Subsistence | The action or fact of maintaining or supporting oneself at a minimum level. Subsistence farming for their living. |
| Archeology | The branch of anthropology that studies prehistoric people and their cultures. •The bible and interpretation site includes material on the political side of biblical archeology. |
| Edifice | A building; A large, imposing one. Edifice of stone, erected in 1811, is nearly in the center of the parish. |
| Incarnation | A person who embodies in the flesh a deity, spirit, or abstract quality. Top god: krishna, the eighth incarnation of vishnu. |
| Nomadic | Mobile: migratory. •The fulani are an ancient people, traditionally nomadic, who live across much of sub-saharan africa. |
| Patriarch | The male head of a family or tribe. In Egypt, it was common for the type of government to be a patriarch. |
| Venerate | Regard with great respect; revere. He was and is greatly venerated in the orthodox church, west and also east. |
| City-State | A state consisting of a sovereign city. |
| Egalitarian | Believing in the principle that all people are equal and deserve equal rights and opportunities. |
| Indigenous | Originating or occurring naturally in a particular place; native. |
| Oracle | A priest or priestess acting as a medium through whom advice or prophecy was sought from the gods in classical antiquity. |
| Sedentary | Characterized by much sitting and little physical exercise. |
| Civilization | The most advanced stage of human social development and organization. |
| Era | A long and distinct period of history with a particular feature or characteristic. |
| Metallurgy | The branch of science that deals with the properties of metals. |
| Pagan | A person holding religious beliefs other than those of the main world religions. |
| Stratification | The act or process or arranging persons into classes or social strata. |
