Ancient China China was Ruled by dynasties, followed Confucianism. They developed many of the most important inventions (paper, fireworks, gunpowder, magnetism).
Ancient Greece Advances in arts, philosophy. Also, considered the birthplace of democracy. Their direct democracy included every male adult citizen, but excluded everyone else.
Ancient Rome Ancient Empire that grew around the Mediterranean Sea. It still influences us in language, law, and government.
Byzantine Empire Eastern part of Roman Empire, lasted 1000 years after Western Roman Empire was conquered, Eastern Orthodox Church, cultural diffusion to Russia and Eastern Europe
City states way in which ancient Greece was organized, thanks to lots of mountains!
Judaism Oldest monotheistic faith in the world. Torah is the holy book
Nomad person who has to travel from place to place.
Polytheism belief in many gods (Hinduism, animism)
Monotheism belief in one God.
Islamic Golden Age A time of advanced learning and culture in the Middle East, with many inventions and innovation in math, science. (800-1200AD)
Medieval Era The Middle Ages was the time in Euorpe between the Fall of the Roman Empire and the Renaissance. Fuedalism was the political system (500CE-1500CE)
Hinduism the polytheistic faith of India
Caste System the social class system of hinduism
Monsoons seasonal winds that greatly influenced the development of trade in India.
River Valley Civilizations where civilization first developed, thanks to fertile soil.
Fertile Crescent the first of the river valley civilizations, in the Middle East
Irrigation brings water to farms. This invention made farming possible beyond river valleys.
Animism Nature worship, still practiced in jngle tribes.
Shinto The polytheistic faith of Ancient Japan. Worships natural forces.
