Although the 1920s were prosperous for the U.S, why is the prosperity considered superficial? Can you see any similarites between the U.S. in the 1920s and today? There were several signs that prosperity of the 1920s were superficial. Companies were producing great qualities of goods, which led to expanding buisnesses. With the expansion, the income gap between workes and managers grew. Wealth wasnt being
distributed evenly. Some "backbone" industries like iron and railroad industries were not a part of the prosperity of the 1920s.Mining and farming also suffered losses during this time. Americans everywhere were living above their means, buying goods on
credit. Similar situations could be found today. As some industries rise, others fell. Americans are still buying credit and going into deby as a result.
What can you conclide from the fact that prohibition failed to meet its goals?Identify and support at least three conclusions. It is currently difficulte to change peoples habitual behaviors. Many people were unwilling to give up drinking just because thelaw required them to do so. People who thought it was morally acceptable to drink did not stop just because of a law based on
others morality. Laws that do not have widespread popular support are hard to enforce. So many people broke the law that the governemnt efforts to enforce break laws they consider foolish. Laws must have adequate enforcement behind them. One reason
prohibition failed was the lack of money for enforcement.
