what were the factory conditions like? the factories were dirty, smelly, had no wndows,had children workers,women workers, men workers,dirty,hot,stuffy,unsafe,pollution and low wages
what type of government did Britain have? Laissez-Faire government meaning it was hands off
for what reasons did women and children work in the factories? women and children get paid lower wages than the men and also have smaller hands to fix machinery if it is needed in the factories
in factors of production, land was made up of what? lumber colonies,waterways,railways,ships,iron ore,roadways,coal,and lumber
in factors of production,labor was made up of what? manpower,entrepreneurs,population increase,and factories
in factors of production, capital was made up of what? money,laissez-faire,factories,markets and entrepreneurs
what is mass production? when animals were reproducing offspring during the time of the enclosure movement. it is also a time when things were being produced more rapidly and quickly
what were the mass production consequences? mass production led to an increase of the way people lived:faster production of goods. mass production also led to a food surplus. people no longer needed to work as much.
what is the increase of standard of living? an increse in the way people lived
what was the decline of the cottage industry? clothing was high quality and low quantity before machines came around. after machines were used the quality became low and quantity became high
what was the reason for the decrease of infant mortality deaths? there were more factory jobs open and that meant more money to buy food when there was a food surplus
urbanization is what? the growth of a city
the bussiness district was located where in the cities? bussiness districts were located in the center of the cities
what were tenements? tenements were buildings casually able to hold 30-40 or so people. they were owned by factory owners andthey were used for factory workers to live in. they were walking distance from the factories.
what were the tenement conditions like? the tenements were dirty and polluted,waste was dumped on the streets,rats were everywhere,located in the city,etc..
a group of workers who joined together that didnt agree with the factories during the industrial revolution was what? rise of unions
a law that said you were to be hung or sent to Australia if you were found in a union? combination law
what were the suburban conditions like? much cleaner than the city,not polluted,located on the outskirts of town,big houses,trees,living conditions for the middle class and the wealthy,etc..
what was the rise of suburbanization? building on the outskirts of town so the wealthy had a place to live during urbanization
positive consequences of the industrial revolution? many machines were invented helping production speed up
negative consequences of the industrial revolution? people lost jobs due to factories: high quality low quantity was now low quality high quantity. the rise of unions occured.
rural to urban migration is what? the movement from farmlands to the city
