This is what they called it when the farmers had to move from their farmes to the city. What was this called? Rural-to-Urban- Migration
During the Industrial revolution why was everything quickier easier and took less people? Because they used machines
The Industrial Revolution led to what 3 reforms? Social, economic, and political
What are the 3 factors of production? land, labor, capital
What are examples of Great Britians land resources? Coal,iron ore, lumber
Great Britian had man power, roadways, and waterway.these are factors of what? These are Factors of Production (labor)
Great Britian also had capital factor of production. What are some of them? Money, entreneurs, factories.They all made money for the capital.
Name and define the type of government that Great Britian had in the time of the Industrial Revolution? The type of government was a Laissez-Faire, its a hands off type of government.
Describe what the factories were like? The factories were 2 story buildings, women and children labor, dirty, only had one window in a room if that, stuffy/crowded, unsafe, the women and children had low wages,
Name some things that were mass produced during the Idustrial Revolution. Clothes and animals were mass produced.
Mass producing led to an increase in the way people lived, what was this called? Increase standard of Living
What led to the decline in the Cottage Industry? What led to the decline was the factories being built in the cities bacause there was no need for there to be people making clothes one by one when a machine could to it alot faster and make alot more for less quality and less money.
What is the reason for less infant children dying? It was the surplus of food. Then there parents could aford to feed them a little more so there iss a less chance of then getting ill.
What are Factories? Factories are building they built in the city with machines inside of them to mass produce clothing and other things.
Why were the women and children hired in the factories before the men were? They were hired over the men because they had smaller hands to fix the machines and also they were paid less money then the men for the same labor so that the factory owners saved more money because they didnt have to pay there workers alot.
Urbanization created what in Great Britian? It created Tenements, factories, women and child labor,entreprenuers ect.
What were the groups of people who formed against the factory owners, and entreprenuers called and what did they do? They were called unions and they were groups of factory workers who didnt agree with the factory owners so they formed against them.
What was the combination law and what did it inforce? The Combination law was a law they said if you were found participating in a union you would be hung or send to Australia because it was against the law.
What were the factory wages like for the men, women, and childen. The factory wages were very different men were 17 shilings, women were 8 shilings, and children were 4 shilings.
Where was the Business District and what was it like? It was located in the middle of the city, it was dirty, and it had shops located in it like dentist, doc,grocery stores,ect.
Who lived in the tenement and what were they like? The factory workers lived in the tenements, The tenements were like small classroom like apartments with 30-40 people living in one apartment. They were dirty, grungy, had no plumbing or no electric.
What were tenements? Tenements were apartment like buildings that the factory workers lived in. They were located right outside the factories in the city.
What was the rise of suburbanization? The rise of suburbanization was when the factories were starting to bebuilt along with the tenements the rich people had to have somewhere nice to live outside the stinky dirty city so they built little neiborhooods outside the city.
What were the suburban conditions like? The conditions were very different from the cities they were clean and only one family to a house.
What are some positives of the Industrial Revolution? Some positives are they created factories to get stuff done quicker.
What are some Negitives about the Industrial Revolution? Some negitives were Dirty,gross conditions, child and women labor, low quality high quantity.
What were the Mass of Production cosequences? There were food surplus and in the factories they had women and children working for less wage, it was not kept up very well.
