What was the radical change toward the use of machines that occured in Great Britian in the mid-1700s. Industrial Revolution
These factors of production are essential in mass producing products, and Great Britian possessed them. What are they? Land, labor, capital
Great Britian had the colonies which provided it with cotton, land and other things, and also Great Britian had a lot of coal. These are example of what factor of production? Land(resources)
Great Britian had a large population which gave them which factor of production? Labor
The economy was stable in Great Britian, so they easily had enough money to do what they wanted, which factor of production is this? Capital
Great Britian's government technically let the entrepueners do what they wanted ( "hands off government") What was this type of government called? Laissez- Faire
These buildings sprung up in the Urban areas, and where essential for mass producing products. Factories
This involves producing large amounts of items in a short period of time. The quantity goes up, but the quality goes down. Mass production
Mass production led to a few things happening. The cost of products went down which allowed poor people to buy more food. In order to mass produce you really didn't need any strong men to work, women and children could work. Food surpluses. Mass production consequences.
Mass proudcing led to an icrease in the way people lived. What was this called? Increase in Standard of Living
With factories popping up and work being so easy that children and women could do it, which business began to decline rapidly? Cottage industry
Food surplus was a major cause for a decrease in what? Infant mortality deaths.
Dirty, hot and damp, stuffy, no windows, crowded, smelly, woman and child labor, low wages, long hours and dangerous are all conditions of what? Factories
This is dangerous, and they get little to no wages. Factory owners prefer hiring them because they don't have to pay them as much as they would a man. Women and Child labor
Factories, business districts, tenament building, mass production, and job creation are all results of what? Urbanization
Since men were no longer needed for the hard homemade jobs when factories began to open, this made them very upset and led to what? Rise of Unions
This law stated that anyone found in Unions would either be sent to Australia, or be hung. Combination Law

With a lot of people coming into Urban areas for work, around the factories came places that sold food, books, drinks, and other different products. What is this? Business districts
Factory owners built these bulildings as places for their workers to stay, but the conditons were terrible. What were they called? Tenement buildings
In the tenement buildings, there were about 40 people in one room, there was only one window, waste filled the streets below and there were extreme dangerous hazards. Tenement conditions
When all of the poor moved in, and factories polluted the area, the middle and upper class began to move out of the area and to suburbs. Rise of surbanization
In the suburbs, the air was clean, there was single family homes, there was electricity and plumbing, trees were around and it was generally a lot nicer. Suburb conditions
The Industrial Revolution was a big positive, because it led to more people eating, mass producing, and an improvement in technology. Positives of the Industrial Revolution
With the Industrial Revolution, a lot of men went out of business, cities became overcrowded and polluted, and childer started working long, dangerous shifts. Negative of Industrial Revolution
