What was the Royal Proclamation of 1763 Colonists cannot settle west of Appalachians
Why did England start the Royal Proclamation? Because it was too hard to control and tax the colonists
How did England want the Colonists to help pay for the cost of the French and Indian war? They passed Stricter laws and raised taxes
What were the different laws and taxes called? Acts
What were the names of the different acts England made for the Colonists? Sugar, currency, townshend, stamp, and quartering
What was the Currency act? The colonists could not print money
What was the Stamp act? British stamp on every printed material
What was the Townshend act? Tax on paint, led, and glass
What was the Quartering act? Colonists had to provide food and shelter for free
What was the Boston Massacre? British soldiers fired into a group of colonists
What was the Tea act? Colonists could only buy tea from one company
What was the Boston Tea party? The colonists through tea into the Boston Harbor
What was meant by the famous phrase:No taxation without representation? No new taxes without a representative of/from the America
What was the First Continental Congress? A group of men who represented people from the 13 colonies
What was the Declaration of Rights? No more taxes without representation
