Disorders of Blood Vessels and Circulation

QuestionAnswer
Aneurysm A bulging of a weakened arterial wall most often affecting the aorta.
Arterial Occlusive Disease A narrowing of the arterial vessels, usually the lower extremities.
Arteriosclerosis A major cause of myocardial infarction, stroke, and occlusive arterial disease in the lower extrmities.
Hypertension A persistant, abnormally elevated blood pressure.
Phlebitis An inflammation of a vein, causing pain and swelling.
Thrombophlebitis A thrombic occlusion of a vein.
Shock A condition characterized by inadequate blood flow to tissues.
